3 words to describe yourself
How long have you been with us?
What did you do prior to joining us?
“I worked as a stockroom assistant and at the Amex stadium. I then volunteered at a school”
Do you have another job or responsibility that runs alongside your role at Class Of Their Own?
I am a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School during the day.
What made you want to join Class Of Their Own?
My brother had been working for Class Of Their Own for a while and I’d seen him progress quickly from a Play Leader to a Club Co-ordinator. He would come home from work and tell me all about the fun that he’d had and recommended that I apply (our mum now works here too!). This was the best decision I made; through joining Class Of Their Own I have gained so many transferable skills and am really happy with the work that I do.
What makes you stay at Class Of Their Own?
The fun that we have as a team! I’ve made some fantastic friends through working at Class Of Their Own and we all get on so well. I know that I can progress and will be supported in this and that Class Of Their Own want me to do well in my career
How have you changed/developed since being at Class Of Their Own?
I’ve developed a vast knowledge and skill set that enables me to be confident in dealing with anything that is thrown my way. As a Senior Play Leader I often support the new team members or Bank Staff that come into the Club, this has helped develop my communication skills which is also useful outside of work on the football pitch!
What is your favourite part of the job and why?
I love the rapport that I have built up with the children and their parents/carers. I love hearing about what the children have been up to at School during the day or what they’ve got planned for the holidays and then hearing about all their adventures when they come back to Club. I get to see the children develop from their first day in Reception as the smallest in the Club to becoming a confident and ‘ready for anything’ Year 6 child who then supports and helps those new Reception children.
Would you recommend Class Of Their Own? If so, why?
Absolutely, and I already have. The flexibility of the hours is perfect for me as it means I can develop my career in childcare as well as having time for all the things I want to do outside of work. The fact that I am only contracted during term-time means that I can take the School Holidays off if I want to, or I can work overtime and earn a bit of extra money to do the things I love.
