3 words to describe yourself

  1. Spontaneous
  2. Approachable
  3. Free-thinking (That might count for 2 words though!)

How long have you
been with us?

What did you do prior to joining us?

I worked in retail management, as a gym instructor, and have been self-employed selling vintage handbags and hand-made jewellery

Do you have another job or responsibility that runs alongside your role at Class Of Their Own?

I am also a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School during the day and then in the evening and weekends I am part of ‘The Dilemma Girls’ putting on performances across the local area and further afield for corporate events and private parties.

What do you do in your spare time?

I still love being creative and making my own jewellery/accessories and if I’m not working at the weekends then I love spending time with my friends.

What made you want to join Class Of Their Own?

I am really passionate about working with children and felt that I could really develop my skills here.

What makes you stay at Class Of Their Own?

I stay because it’s a great company to work for. The hours are perfect as it means I can focus on my other passions as well as having my weekends free.

How have you changed/developed since being at Class Of Their Own?

I joined Class Of Their Own as a Play Leader and realised how much fun it was. I then progressed to an Assistant Club Co-ordinator before becoming a Club Co-ordinator at Swiss Gardens in Shoreham. I now run one of the largest and busiest After School Clubs in Hove and love every minute of it! I’ve received so much training during my time at Class Of Their Own that it’s hard to remember it all but I’ve gained qualifications in Playwork and attended courses in First Aid, Safeguarding, Challenging Behaviour, Autism Awareness…the list goes on and on!

What do we look for in a
Play Leader?

A Play Leader is responsible for supporting the day to day activities in the Club and ensuring the children are given opportunities to play freely or engage in organised activities. Time at our clubs is the children’s free/leisure time and the activities that you set up for the children will be child-led and influenced by the children's likes and dislikes. Your aim for the day is to use your skills and experience to ensure the children enjoy their time with us.
